Privacy Policy

IterateCode doesn't collect your code, keystrokes, or usage data. The app runs locally on your Mac, Windows, or Linux machine. When you use AI features, your code goes directly from your device to the AI provider you've configured — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a local model. We never see it.
What we collect
- Nothing from your projects. No code, file names, or project metadata is ever sent to our servers.
- Account and usage (if you sign in). If you create an IterateCode account, we store your email and a count of AI tokens used, so we can enforce free-tier limits and process Pro/Team billing. We never store the content of your requests — only the count.
- Payments. Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Crash reports (optional). If the app crashes, a report is written to your local disk. We never receive it unless you choose to share it.
- Update checks. The app periodically checks for updates. This request includes your IP address (like any HTTP request) but no identifying app data.
Bring your own key
Your Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google API keys are stored locally — in the macOS Keychain on Mac, and the OS credential store on Windows and Linux. They're used exclusively to make API calls directly from your device to those providers. They're never transmitted to IterateCode's servers and never logged.
AI providers
When you use AI features, your code context is sent directly to the provider you've configured, governed by their privacy policies:
If you use a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, your code never leaves your machine.
Extensions
On Windows and Linux, IterateCode uses the Open VSX registry for extensions. Extensions you install are third-party software governed by their own authors' terms — IterateCode doesn't transmit your data to them; they run locally with the permissions you grant.
Local data storage
IterateCode stores the following on your device only:
- Project configuration (
.iteratecode/config.jsonin each project) - Snapshots for AI undo
- Agent memory (learned facts about your codebase, stored locally)
- Recent project list
- API keys and account token (OS credential store)
Your rights
To delete all local data, remove the IterateCode application-support folder and delete the app. To delete your account and the usage count we store, email us at the address below and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll post a notice on iteratecode.com and update the date above.
